"'Rule 'Em All' is a tribute to the grandfather of modern fantasy, The Lord of the Rings. Peter Jackson's cinematic adaptation is one of my favorites, and I often turn on the extended editions in the background as I paint, because I love the music, the story and the characters. A while back I designed a 'Rule 'Em All' sticker with just Gollum, Frodo and Sam, and I loved the idea of presenting the fellowship as musicians at a concert. I've been planning to do a whole 'concert' painting for some time and I'm happy with how it turned out. This was a fun one to sneak details in, and there are a lot of them.
A few of my favorite details are: the stage is made of the 3 stone trolls from The Hobbit, with some King's Foil growing on top of them; The writing on the speakers is the inscription from the One Ring; Gandalf's Bass Guitar has his 'mark' on it, the one he scratched into Bilbo's door; and Frodo is singing into the Phial of Galadriel, containing the Light of Eärendil."
